After a group of bullies steal their hard-earned Halloween candy, a determined brother and sister receive an unexpected gift from a mysterious new neighbor…

Halloween has arrived in a typical American suburban street, and children are out trick-or-treating, including Billy and his little sister Nancy. Billy is ready to go home, but Nancy wants to make sure her plastic cauldron is filled to the brim with candy.

As they pass an old, creepy mansion, Nancy is too scared to approach it, even though it has recently been renovated by its new owner and now looks warm and cozy. Suddenly, Billy and Nancy are ambushed by a group of bullies who demand all of their candy. Billy stands up to the bullies but gets beaten up, and Nancy reluctantly hands over her candy while crying.

The bullies continue their reign of terror until they are lured into the mansion by a young woman that stands on the porch and promises them delicious candy.

Nancy returns to the street with an empty bucket, but Billy has brought backup in the form of two friends. They walk past the creepy mansion again, and the same woman rushes towards Nancy, calling her “delicious.” Nancy is terrified, but the woman points to a plastic cauldron on her porch that looks just like the one Nancy had. Billy takes his sister’s hand, and they, along with their friends, head towards the porch. They discover that it’s their candy, but the woman invites them inside, promising even more treats.

“Crumbs” is a ten-page screenplay loosely based on the Goosebumps books by R.L. Stine and the famous Hansel and Gretel fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. It creates tension in a Halloween setting and delivers a story of sweet revenge.
